What is Quantum Tunneling ?

Quantum Tunneling isn’t a law or a part of the physics we learn in our day to day life but it is part or we can say a theory of quantum Mechanics. First of all, let me tell you what is Quantum Mechanics, Quantum Mechanics means study of matter at atomic or sub-atomic levels. Quantum Mechanics is a theory which is very complex to understand and may seem crazy to a normal person

Now, let me tell you about Quantum Tunneling……

Quantum Tunneling allows us to go through or pass to a barrier obstructing us. It may be a physical substance, vacuum or a region of high potential energy. For example, According to physics the body needs to have enough energy to pass or travel from one point to another. But Quantum Mechanics says that the body can travel the distance even if the body doesn’t have enough energy to travel (As in classical mechanics). And in the case of Quantum Tunneling, we know that the matter is either wave or a particle and while Quantum Tunneling the wave force starts to act and enables the body to travel

Now where we can actually see the Quantum Tunneling in action ? The biggest example is our sun, Our Sun produces energy by fusion of hydrogen nuclei that create helium and this process of nuclear fusion produces energy, heat and light in the sun

But, Most of the Hydrogen nuclei don’t have power to do so .Because, to fuse they need to overcome the power of repulsion of their own positive charge, this is called Coulomb barrier. So, here Using Quantum Tunneling the nuclei overcome the force of repulsion and fuse together
